Mighty Products
Mighty Trio Organics: plant based products made in a peanut, dairy and gluten free facility. We derive our products from Hemp, Flax and Canola plants using a strictly mechanical cold pressing method. This helps to ensure the naturally abundant nutrients are maintained.
Hemp Seed Oil – Our Hemp seed oil is smooth… real smooth. With a mellow yet distinct flavor, this oil adds rich substance when used as a garnish to soups stews and pasta sauces. Hemp oil is a lovely oil for salad dressings and goes well with balsamic vinegar for a sophisticated bread dip. We don’t want to pick favorites but…
Hemp Meal - Hemp Meal is like Hemp oil’s macho over protective brother. It contains all essential amino acids which means… thats right, its a complete protein. Hemp Meal is chock-full of soluble and insoluble fibers with a hint of Essential fatty acids to top it all off. This nutritional powerhouse is a whole food supplement that will leave you satisfied and energized. A good one to have on your side. Mix Hemp Meal in with smoothies, sprinkle over hot or cold cereal, and where ever you need a bit of a boost.
Hemp Butter- A nutty combination of oil and meal, Hemp Butter is like having your cake and eating it too… except much better for your health. We recommend stirring it into soups to give them a little more oomph or mixing it into hummus. Heck, why not put it right there on your toast with a little honey to start your day.
Canola Seed Oil - Canola oil is well known to the Alberta consumer as an ideal oil for sauteing and cooking. Our seed is non- GMO. This light, buttery oil can be used in place of butter for many things, baking , cooking, pouring all over popcorn. It is so flavorful and tasty, it may even make you blush.
Flax Seed Oil - Flax seeds are often refered to as the ‘super food’, which is probably why its oil makes other oils jealous by always winning popularity contests. It is high in omega 3′s and is a nice base for salad dressings. Add it to creamy soups for a nutrition and flavor boost.
Flax Meal - High in fiber and protein, Flax Meal is an easy addition to hot or cold cereal, or smoothies. Toss a few tablespoons in to your baking for added fiber and protein. yum.
Flax Butter - Flax Butter is a dairy free alternative. A great way to get your omegas and proteins all in one shot! Flax butter is a yummy way thicken soups or sauces and add a subtle nutty flavor.

I purchased a jar of your hemp powder today at the Farmers Market in St. Albert and came home to do a little research. I came across the following information and would like to hear your response to it.
First you must be clear about what you want. Often what is called hemp meal is actually de-fatted hemp presscake, the by-product of making hempseed oil. It has about 80 percent of the oil (and essential fatty acids) removed, hence the “de-fatted” nomenclature. It is sometimes also called hemp flour or presscake. It’s a good animal feed, higher in protein. Because it has been subjected to the heat, light, and oxygen from oil extraction, it can be very unstable and prone to spoilage. As a food ingredient it is inferior, because of the aforementioned reasons but also because it darkens and makes the food gritty. Better for foods are hempseed oil and/or shelled hempseed.

Hello Heather,
This is a great topic of discussion, thanks for the question.
It is important, as your quote also states, to be clear about what you want.
Our hemp powder is:
10% oil (the same oils contained in hemp seeds),
37% protein (the same essential amino acids) and
36% dietary fibers (soluble and insoluble)
it also contains calcium (106mg/100g), iron (11mg/100g), sodium (78mg/100g) and potassium (980mg/100g)
This product is a great source of protein, soluble and insoluble fibers and Essential Fatty Acids. Our focus is to perform the least amount of processing on our products to retain their valuable nutrients and it is important to note that any and all products containing Essential Fatty Acids are prone to spoilage if not handled correctly. If you don’t mind the texture that it gives your food or that it “darkens” foods then you may, as we do, really enjoy this product. For many people it lets them obtain their daily fiber, EFA and protein requirements all in one product. You may notice a smoothie with 4 Tbsp. of the Hemp Powder in the morning will help you feel energized, alert and satiated until the afternoon.
Thanks again Heather!

“Because it has been subjected to the heat, light, and oxygen from oil extraction, it can be very unstable and prone to spoilage. As a food ingredient it is inferior, because of the aforementioned reasons”
The conventional way to process the oil from involves chemical solvents and raising the temperature of the seeds being processed as this increases the percentage of oil that is removed.
Mighty trio does what is called cold pressing of the hemp seeds to extract the oil. The total yield of oil with this method is decreased but the quality is higher and no chemical solvents are used. This also leaves more of the oil in the hemp powder. Because the processing is done below 120 degrees F the natural enzymes in the seeds are still present in the powder and most or all of the nutrients in the seeds are still present and viable in the hemp powder.
I hope this helps clarify.
